March Mad Minutes is a yearly event I created that combines several levels of reading and fun: Read Across America Day, Dr. Seuss' Birthday, and March Madness! Working as a school Reading Specialist I was desperate for a way to make junior high students think reading was cool. Enter March Mad Minutes. This is a kick off party and month long competition where students create community in their class and work as a team to get the most minutes! They will submit their personal minutes each week and the school wide score board will be updated. Classes will compete to get into the Elite 8, Final 4, and finally, the winning class will be announced in April! Most schools get their students reading 200,000 minutes during the competition! Let's make it nation-wide! Contact me for lesson plans and get your school involved!
